The Futile Path of Exhibitionism
Ok... I was reading alot this weekend about this subject and I came to realize it is very similar to politics’… It all depends on who you ask… So when is being an exhibitionist crossing the line and are those who like to be viewed in risk of more than just jail time?
When is it appropriate to flaunt your stuff and when isn’t it? I think many people in this group live alternative lifestyles and it allows them the freedom to expose themselves, or an act performed with another person openly and without fear of rejection or anyone taking offense. But if a real exhibitionist takes this into their more everyday life and exposes him/herself for some great sexual stimulant on the un-expected what and how should they be treated?
I remember being very young around 17 when I was living in a shanty on Thompson street off MLK…. Every afternoon I would walk to the local market and get myself a soda and walk back home, NEVER ever did I think that one-day along my routine walk I would run across a good old fashion flasher…. Yes that is dating myself! That was actually a term back then! But my roomy and me were wandering in our short summer shorts and halters when about a block from me I told Linda he is going to flash us…. She laughed and said “NO WAY”, I was raised with to much street sense to not recognize what was about to take place…. I prepared myself also placing my right hand in my shorts pocket grasping my mace…. And sure as shit he exposed himself jacking off…. Linda starting crying and ran…. I boldly took that mace out and spray-painted his wee willy… I caught up with Linda and at that moment I realize we are all different. I thought it was funny, well Linda was very traumatized by this senseless act.
So I am asking when is being a exhibitionist a criminal act? Please feel free to share your stories. I will admit I have been on both sides of this… Being flashed and being the flasher, do I consider myself a threat to society? No probably not, but the finding I was reading this weekend prove that this type of behavior has lead to broken families, jail terms, and financial distress. Is being a exhibitionist something most can control in a appropriate forum or is it something that always lurks in the back of our minds waiting for the next chance to flaunt our acts? Let me know what you think….
